We had a fantastic opportunity yesterday when five women who work at an ABA center in South Korea came to see our AHSS Autism Center in Arlington Heights. AHSS Senior Recruiter Johna Sommer met them at the ABAI 2016 conference last weekend, and they requested a visit for a tour and to observe a session!
Family Support Coordinator Laura Perisin sums up the incredible experience:
What a delight to have these nice young women from South Korea visit our Arlington Heights Center. It was an honor to have these ABA therapists tour our Center and have a Q & A at the end. Sara Bennett (Center Specialist) gave a fabulous tour by giving a detailed description of each therapy room and she led them to observe sessions in progress. They sat in the BCBA office with Shana Lehar (Center Manager/BCBA Specialist), Laura Bonfante (BCBA specialist), and myself to ask some questions and we also did the same. They asked about parent training, therapist training, IEPs and more. These therapists all came from a hospital clinic setting that serves the Early Intervention population. When we asked ‘what else can we show, answer or talk about’ they replied with big smiles and said, “This was much more than we ever expected to see, hear, or talk about.. thanks so much..!”Thanks to the AHSS Autism Center team for having this so organized and efficient as always!! YOU ARE THE BEST!! I truly cannot express enough positive words about what happens at this Center. It is a magical place and it is fun to be a part of the progress!!
