Hawaii has been trying to pass an autism insurance mandate for the past five years. Last Friday, the autism insurance mandate was passed by a committee, meaning the autism bill will soon be brought to the Hawaii senate floor for a vote. Senate Bill 791 would mandate $25,000 worth of annual coverage for autism services until a child turns fourteen.
Autism Home Support Services hopes that Hawaii joins the 40 other states with autism insurance mandates. Every child should have the opportunity to reach their potential. Hopefully, every autistic child will soon be given the chance to be all that they can be.
