This weekend, 1700 autism specialists from around the globe met in Salt Lake City to discuss the latest findings in autism research. There is still so much we do not understand about Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Just two of the important unanswered questions they’re searching for answers to are:
- How is autism caused?
- Why is there such a wide spectrum in symptoms and ability?
This was the 14th year the International Meeting for Autism Research is taking place, although it had never been hosted in Salt Lake City before. This conference serves as a reminder to individuals all over the world who have loved ones on the spectrum that scientists are spending vast amounts of resources researching autism.
Hopefully one day researchers will find answers to the many mysteries surrounding autism. Until that day comes, I feel a bit better knowing that researchers from around the globe are tirelessly working to learn more about autism.
