It’s finally summer and while that means it’s finally prime time to soak up the sun, it’s extremely important to take cautionary measures while outside with your family. Nearly half of children with autism wander, which can occur at any time they are unsupervised. In order to prevent your child from wandering and its dangers, here are a few steps you can take:
1) Secure your home
2) Consider investing in a locating device
3) Think about buying an ID bracelet
4) Teach your child how to swim (financially disadvantaged individuals can apply for the Swimming and Water Safety Scholarship Fund)
5) Ask your neighbors to keep an eye out
6) Alert First Responders
