Making & Maintaining Progress – Why we do what we do

1.28.16 MBoyer graduation quoteYesterday I was invited to participate in a Team Meeting for P who will be discharging from ABA services due to the family moving out of state. While the family moving is an unfortunate circumstance for our clinical team, the accomplishments P and his family have made in a 9-month period should be celebrated by all parties.
Not only did P make incredible progress towards his goal, mom and dad have been extremely invested in maintaining progress outside of session. As a new AHSS employee it has been truly inspiring to attend P’s Team Meetings and see the excitement for continued growth on both sides of the table.
Lyndsay Sarra (BCBA), Tyler Hogan (Program Lead), Rich Keinz (Lead CTM), and Anthony Rocco (CTM) have forever impacted this family. It is through their dedication to P that the family feels comfortable making their cross country move. Mom and Dad have learned a variety of skills to assist P during times of difficulty and to better understand some of his ongoing limitations. From this point forward, they will be P’s best advocates.

After many years working in mental health and with children with special needs, I can confidently say this ‘graduation’ is in my Top 5. I feel honored to have met the family and witnessed the dedication of the therapy team.

Thank you team for my first successful AHSS Discharge!
