Phoenix Living Center for Adults with Autism Planned

By Jonathan Slack, Market Research & Development Specialist, AHSS

Phoenix residential housing for adults with autism 4.30.15As we have written about previously, the number of adults with autism is increasing. However, there are limited resources for adults on the autism spectrum to utilize. For example some adults on the spectrum need help setting up a routine, and problem solving when their routine is disrupted, to enable them to live independently.

In Phoenix, Arizona, a nonprofit called First Place is creating innovative housing for adults with autism. This is one of the first residential projects catering to adults with autism in the Phoenix area. It will have 50 apartments as well as a teaching and career development academy and leadership institute.

Hopefully, more residential housing and programs will be created for adults on the spectrum in the coming years all over the country.
