Today’s School Year Shout Out to Special Educators:
My Husband and I want to give a special thank you to Mary Wong, special education teacher at Ravinia School in North Shore School District 112 in Highland Park. She has been a wonderful teacher to our son Alex Labedz this year in Fourth Grade. Besides the fact that she is extremely professional, knowledgeable, and organized, she has always kept us current on his school work — what’s been going well, what needs work — and she has communicated with us almost daily. In addition, she has prepared so many visual tools for Alex to use at school and has also given us power point presentations for him to use to study for tests. She has organized friendship lunches and small groups for Alex to get to know some of his peers better.
We can tell that she really cares about the kids at school. She sees the big picture and has been helping us prepare for next year and beyond. It’s extremely disappointing to us that she won’t be at Ravinia next year. We will always appreciate everything she’s done for us, and especially for Alex, this year. It takes a very empathetic, patient, and creative person to do the kind of work that special education teachers do. Mary Wong is the best.
Truly,
Ericka and Ron Labedz
