Not every day is full of smiles and successes. Sometimes there is this sad moment at the end of the day that makes our hearts break. It is difficult to stay strong. It is difficult to do the same things again when we thought we climbed this hill before. I am grateful to have wonderful parents and therapists who are along for the journey. When I go home, after a moment like this, I write …
The Door
She is here
We all want to believe
But she was here
So much more
Before
She let us in to her happy inside
This door is closed now
For us …
We keep knocking every day
My eyes get wet
On the inside
When her mom talks
When her dad asks
On the outside
I wear my professional face
When I keep
Telling them to hope for the best
And keep trying
While I go home
And write these words
So my tears can stay
Inside
So outside
I can wear my professional face
When I tell them again
To never stop
Knocking on the door
