Tommy’s four years old. He loves dinosaurs and animals — especially his dog. And thanks to the compassionate therapy from Autism Home Support Services, he’s ready to tell you all about it.
After spending most his years not being able to talk, feeling the need to run and jump, and struggling with potty training, Tommy was diagnosed with Autism. While Tommy’s family had always suspected Autism, this was an emotional day for everyone.
After a moment of initial shock, it was time to get the best help possible for Tommy. Thanks to an incredible connection with Tommy’s father and a childhood friend of 30 years, Tommy’s parents connected with Autism Home Support Services (AHSS).
Tommy started with 22 hours of therapy each week — no easy task for anyone, especially a young child. While it felt overwhelming at first, Tommy never skipped a
beatand was one of the quickest children to accelerate through his graduation. In fact, Tommy graduated early.
“The way we saw Tommy’s communication change was miraculous,” said Tommy’s parents. “It’s all because of ABA (Applied Behavior Analysis) therapy and the amazing therapists at Autism Home Support Services. Without them, Tommy wouldn’t be where he his. AHSS came in and figured out how to help him with these amazing programs that were tailored just for him. We love that the services were done in our home. It felt way more natural because it took place where Tommy felt most comfortable.”
Tommy was also potty trained in just two weeks, and no longer needs to run and jump. It’s almost like Tommy is a whole new person.
“Tommy’s receptive cognitive level is now right up there with his age,” says Tommy’s father with pride. “And his expressive levels? They’re only a few months behind. His speech therapist calls him a ‘rock star.’ We agree.”
Tommy’s parents hope that Tommy’s journey will help inspire friends, family and other parents of children with Autism.
“We’re obviously thrilled with the progress he’s made,” beams Tommy’s mother. “But we also tell people how great Autism Home Support Services is. Every staff member we’ve ever partnered with has shown nothing but caring, kindness and love. They will do everything to help your child and family.”

“It was amazing to see how much AHSS cared about us, and we grew attached to them too. We told them, ‘You changed our lives. You’ve completely changed our lives.’”
